Basic Split Testing

Split testing during marketing campaigns on the internet is so easy there is really no excuse not to do it. Simple changes can often yield big results so this sort of testing is definitely worthwhile. Nobody wants to leave money lying on the table so split testing should be a regular activity if you are running any kinds of ads anywhere online.

Many case studies involving simple split testing have shown that this form of optimization is very effective. You can increase leads and conversions and that means more money in your pocket. Track your efforts to see what works and you could find that with a little testing you have a much more effective ad delivery.

When split testing, it is important to maintain a solid control and change only one or two elements at a time. And you should probably really only be changing one factor at a time but if you change similar items, for example, you change the font and in turn need to change the background color, then you can be confident that was the cause of any results you may have. What you absolutely do not want to do is to make every ad unit you test completely different from the previous one. This will yield you almost zero data so unless you somehow get miraculously lucky right off the bat you will be looking at a negative campaign real quick.
